About our School
J. F. Webb High School of Health and Life Sciences is a small redesigned high school. The school began in 2005 through the NC New Schools Project and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Webb School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) enrolls about 300 students in grades 9 – 12 and is located on the campus of J.F. Webb High School. We have 11 teachers and 4 administrative staff. Students cross enroll to take some courses at J. F. Webb High School such as agriculture, physical education, arts, JROTC, and some world languages.

At Webb SHLS we encourage students to do their very best at everything they attempt. Teachers and staff do not except less than students are capable of because we know students can do anything they set their minds to do. We have high expectations. Our students’ success is our first priority.

Webb SHLS uses common instructional strategies to create classrooms that allow for powerful teaching and learning and form the basis of a coherent college preparatory curriculum for all students. We have been recognized by the State of North Carolina as a School of Distinction (2009-2010), Honor School of Excellence (2010-2011) and Honor School of Excellence (2011 – 2012) – no state awards were given in 2012-13. For school year 2013-14, the State awarded school letter grades. Our school received a letter grade B. School year 2015-16 marks the beginning of our 11th year. We are proud of our accomplishments.
